Artist in Residence: Steffi Bauer

Steffi Bauer joined Villa Arnica as Artist in Residence, bringing along her vibrant illustrations. During an artist talk, she shared insights into her work before introducing the fundamentals of textile design in a workshop held in the villa’s garden. The afternoon gave rise to uniquely designed tea towels - and to moments of exchange, creativity, and fresh inspiration.

The Munich-based textile designer and illustrator works as a freelance creative. She combines her artistic skills with technical expertise to develop illustrations and patterns particularly suited for textile applications.

Her creative signature is playful yet precise, with a special love for the imperfect. Inspired by nature and the plants surrounding her studio in Munich’s Westend, Steffi develops her drawings into fabric designs and distinctive patterns. Her work appears on textiles, magazine covers, products and even on window displays.

Alongside her design practice, she creates individual artworks and commissioned pieces. She also leads artistic workshops, sharing the freedom and joy of working with illustration.
